It appears that Bossier City’s Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel could get new life as the latest iteration of the national Live! Casino & Hotel brand in the coming years.
That’s because The Cordish Companies, which operates the brand across the U.S., is seeking to build a new land-based Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana property at the northwestern riverboat casino, with doors opening as soon as 2025 should things come to fruition. Louisiana sports betting will likely have a nice presence at the updated casino.
Big Time Money For A Big Time Casino
The more than $250 million project includes more than 47,000 square feet of casino space, including more than 1,000 slot machines and electronic table games to go with 30-plus live-action table games.
The future facility will also have a multi-purpose events center and 30,000 square feet of dining and entertainment venues on site, with food and beverage options that include Sports & Social and PBR Cowboy Bar coming to the facility down the line.
The development is one that Joe Weinberg, who serves as The Cordish Companies’ managing partner, calls a win-win for the state of Louisiana and the casino operator alike.
"We're very excited and honored to present our plans to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board and thank them for their enthusiastic support of our project,” Weinberg said in a company press release. "Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be a world-class resort destination that brings a first-class gaming, dining, entertainment, and hospitality experience to the region, creates significant new jobs, and generates millions of dollars in economic benefits for the community. We look forward to working with Foundation Gaming & Entertainment, state and local officials, and the community to bring the project to fruition.”

What Live! Casino & Hotel Would Bring To Louisiana Casino Market
The addition of the Bayou State’s first Live! Casino property would allow Louisiana to join other regions in the country, such as Baltimore and Philadelphia which already have one of the company’s casinos, in addition to places like Arlington, Atlanta, and St. Louis, which have Live! Entertainment corridors in their cities.
For Bossier City elected officials, such as Mayor Thomas Chandler, the ability to add a venerable casino option like Live! Casino & Hotels is a no-brainer for all involved, bringing extra revenue to the northwestern Louisiana parish.
“We are very excited to welcome The Cordish Companies team to Bossier City and look forward to working with them on this beautiful project,” Mayor Chandler said. “Live! Casino and Hotel Louisiana will attract millions of visitors to our city, create substantial new jobs, and generate significant tax revenue for our community. It’s a life changer for our region.”
For now, the future Bossier City casino is subject to the approval of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. However, that doesn’t appear to be much of an issue, based on the statement given by Ronnie Johns, who serves as the chairman of the board.
Johns said the board is ready to work with The Cordish Companies to get the ball rolling on the Bossier City casino in the years ahead.
“The Louisiana Gaming Control Board looks forward to working with The Cordish Companies to bring a world-class casino and entertainment destination to the Bossier/Shreveport market,” Johns said in the release. “The Board also wants to thank Foundation Gaming for their vision in beginning this much-needed process of rebuilding a closed casino property. We will work closely with both Foundation and Cordish to make this project a reality as soon as possible to deliver a gaming and entertainment destination that Louisiana can be proud of.”
