It’s National Coffee Day on September 29th, and here at LouisianaBets.com we’re not only staying on top of Louisiana sports betting, but we are focusing our attention on one of the hottest topics for American coffee lovers. That is, which is better: Starbucks of Dunkin’ Donuts?
In order to find what chain Louisianans love more, we first looked at the number of Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks locations per 100,000 people in the state. Then we compared the relative search engine traffic of the terms “Starbucks near me” and “Dunkin’ Donuts near me.” Using all that data, we came up with a weighted ranking to see which coffee shop is most popular in the Pelican State.
Favorite Coffee Brand in Louisiana
Louisiana prefers to sip Starbucks
According to our research experiment, Louisiana coffee drinkers are far more likely to order a frappuccino than anything Dunkin’ has to offer. Starbucks is the hands-down winner, and it’s not particularly close. There are 1.79 Starbucks locations per 100,000 state residents (vs. only 0.3 Dunkin’ shops). Starbucks also owns nearly all the search engine traffic, being googled 91% more often than Dunkin’ Donuts. However, compared with the rest of the country, Starbucks lags in popularity. The average American state has 3.7 locations per 100,000 residents — over double what’s found in Louisiana.
Not surprisingly, Washington is the state with the most per capita Starbucks locations. The coffee chain began in Seattle in 1971 in the West Coast city’s Pike Place Market. But it wasn’t until the early-80s when the company was sold to billionaire CEO Howard Schultz, that the company’s aggressive expansion efforts began. With 35,711 locations around the world, Starbucks' annual revenue topped $35 billion last year.
But whether it’s coming from Starbucks, Dunkin’, or local favorite PJ’s Coffee Of New Orleans, start your day off right with a cup of joe and the latest sports betting information on the best Louisiana sportsbook apps courtesy of LouisianaBets.com.
